Portfolio of Works

The Guardians are still arriving. The Redacted Series (the newest additions) is based on the Psalms. The first 15 Psalms, are bordered with hand applied 24 karat gold leaf and mounted on cradled panels, and framed in a gold float frame. They are coated with a museum quality varnish allowing them to be displayed without glass. Psalm 16-20 are available as prints, at this point in time. They can be produced as a mounted piece with gold leaf upon request. I will do one only of each Psalm in this method, but will do unlimited prints. With the exception of two images, the majority are  mounted on a cradled panel, all works are archival. Any of the images are also available as an open edition print with or without the poetry. Prints are available in these sizes: 7x9", 9x12", 12x16", 13.5x18" 16x20", and 17x22". (All priced differently.) With the exception of The Redacted Series, all poetry is by the artist. The Guardians is a collection of work by Barbara Desrosiers. The work is all created on iPad and is refined on the computer with Photoshop. No pre-formed images are carried into the work, all work is done intuitively. If any photos are used, they are brought in after the work has dictated the direction it wishes to take, and all photo references are the artist’s. They become powerful symbols of the unseen presences in our lives, the spirits that walk beside us and, as such, defy identification. Each one carries a power and has a different message for the viewer. No two people see them the same and almost everyone who does experience them feels a connection on some level. 

The Guardians continue to visit me and have led me to change mediums in their expression. I will be adding to this collection continually and will be reissuing the original 20 mixed media Guardians in this method also. These are inkjet transfer prints. They are one of a kind, every transfer has its own characteristics so that no two are alike. They are all on 300 lb hot press watercolor paper and are, or can be, float mounted in a plain 14x18" black frame. Prices reflect framing or lack of framing, depending upon the piece. If it is already framed I would hesitate to unframe it. There is an extra shipping charge.

The Guardian Series is based on a nighttime visitation that I had in the 1980s. It has taken this long to manifest. This is a series of iPad paintings pushed further in Photoshop and then worked with cold wax, oil sticks, oil pastels, metal leafing, etc.
